Yaxi and Kai’s Wedding - Dessert Table

The dessert table at Yaxi and Kai’s wedding was absolutely amazing.  It was fun to see a table with a bunch of bite size dessert.  Everything was delicious but my personal favorite were the cake pops.  More pictures can be found here.

Dinner Date at Suppenküche

Suppenküche is another amazing German restaurant located in San Francisco on Hayes and Laguna.  The restaurant resembles a traditional German Wirtshaus and has a very charming atmosphere that encourages great conversation.  I went here on a dinner date the other evening and the food was fantastic with the standout being the pickled herring.  I’ve recommended Leopold’s in the past, but Suppenküche stands equally tall in quality German cuisine.

Saigon Sandwich

The Tenderloin is infamously known as an area that’s high in crime, drug use, and prostitution, which is no wonder why people tend to stay away from it.  However, it also houses many amazing food spots that hide away like diamonds in the rough.

One of those spots is Saigon Sandwich, which is arguably the best place to get a Vietnamese Sandwich in San Francisco.  Located off the corner of Eddy and Larkin, you probably wouldn’t even notice the shop if it weren’t for the line that comes out of it.

Once you make it in, you’ll be greeted by the smiles of some wonderful Vietnamese women who will promptly take your order.  In a few minutes, you’ll be back out the door with sandwich in hand.

What make the sandwiches from Saigon Sandwich better than any other Vietnamese sandwiches in the city are the size, quality, and price.  Compared to other sandwiches I’ve had in the city, the sandwiches from Saigon Sandwich are enormous.  Moreover, the quality of the meat they use is unparalleled.  It’s perfectly seasoned and tender, which makes it absolutely delicious.  Finally, at $3.50 a sandwich, it’s a price that beats the competition.

While I won’t deny that the Tenderloin isn’t the best neighborhood in the city, I’ll say that it’s not as bad as it seems, especially during the day.  If you’re feeling bold and are looking for an amazing, inexpensive lunch, stop by Saigon Sandwiches.

Food Truck Lunch: Chicken Tikka Masala Burrito with Paneer Sexy Fries

Today is another amazing day in San Francisco and I couldn’t bring myself to eat lunch indoors.  My coworkers and I decided to check out the CurryUpNow Indian Food Truck at the San Francisco Lunch Box.

CurryUpNow prides itself on being the San Francisco Bay Area’s first Indian Street food truck.  Their goal is to “bring the street foods of Chandni Chowk, Old Delhi, Chowpatty, Mumbai, New Market, Kolkatta, elite boarding school (Sem, Sherwood, Sonn & All Saints) town of Nainital, Uttarkhand” to the people of San Francisco via their truck.

This was my first time at CurryUpNow, so I decided to go with their Chicken Tikka Masala burrito, which comes with chicken tikka masala, methi pulao, chana masala, and pickled onions all on a fresh tortilla.  I also decided to split an order of sexy fries (sweet potato criss cross fries with paneer tikka masala) with my friends.

Overall, it was an amazing lunch.  The chicken tikka masala burrito is now among my favorite fusion burritos that I’ve had so far in San Francisco.  Warning, the food is pretty heavy (as expected) so make sure you don’t have any meetings planned after lunch.  If you love Indian food and the convenience of street trucks, I would highly recommend them.  They also have a brick and mortar restaurant in San Mateo if you’re in the area.
